February 2021 - Jesus Shared the Gospel

This month, let's focus on how you can be like Jesus by sharing the gospel.

Have you ever shared a snack or a treat with a friend? Did you talk about how good it tasted? How did sharing with your friend make you feel? When you eat, you are feeding your physical body.

Did you know that when you read your scriptures, pray or think about Jesus you are feeding your spirit? Some of your friends might not know about Jesus and what he taught. They might not know how to feed their spirit. Just like you might share a snack with a friend, you can also share what you know about Jesus. When you tell your friends what you know about Jesus, you are helping to share the gospel just like Jesus did.

Watch this video of your Primary friends from the Corinne 1st ward talking about ways they can share the gospel.

You can use the checklist in this article to make a plan for sharing the gospel with someone.

For the Little Ones: Jesus shared the Gospel by teaching the little children.

Here’s a coloring missionary tag that you can color and wear to remind us all that little children can be missionaries and share the Gospel too.

Jesus share the gospel by inviting the children to come unto him.

Children can remind us of the Christlike attributes required to enter the kingdom of God.

2 fun ideas on the Just Serve App, these could be useful for the children and youth program. PLUS they go well with this month’s attribute of sharing.

Song of the Month

Music is a powerful tool that can help children learn the Gospel! Here are tips for teaching the Song of the Month.

January - Joseph Smith's First Prayer (Hymns no. 26)

Try putting actions with each line of the song.

February - I Want to Be a Missionary Now (CS pg. 103)

Sing the song to the children, and then repeat but take out a key word, like "missionary" and see if the kids can guess what word belongs there.

March - When I am Baptized (CS pg. 103)

Have the children draw pictures of something that goes with each line of the song. As you sing, have them hold up the picture that goes with each line.

April - Jesus Said Love Everyone (CS pg. 61)

Telephone game - whisper the first line of the song into the child's ear, and have them pass it on to the next child or family member. Continue on until the last person says what they heard. Repeat with the next line and so on.

May - Choose the Right (Hymns, no.239)

Say the words to the song and have the children hurry and stand up and then sit down every time they hear "Choose the Right". Eventually have them sing it with you and see if they can stand up and sit down while singing the words.

June - I'm Trying to Be like Jesus (CS pg. 78-79)

This song is easiest to teach one line at a time. Go through the first line of the song, and have one child or family member choose an action for the others to follow as they all sing the first line of the song (swaying from side to side, rolling arms, etc.). Repeat the SAME line of the song but have someone else choose a different action for everyone to follow. Repeat a couple times until everyone knows the first line, then move on to the next line.
